Attention Student Council. There will be no Student Council meeting this Wednesday. We will meet again on Wednesday, December 3 to decide on and start planning our next project.

Our school just completed the preliminary round of the Clark County School District Spelling Bee. And the school-wide winners are:  6th Grade (after a tie breaker round) – Michelle Bolander,  7th Grade – Alyssa Roberts,  8th Grade – Allison Dacome

 

They will be competing in the Regional Spelling Bee at Brinley Middle School on Dec. 11 at 4:00. Wish them luck. GO BOXERS.

Honor Cards Coupon Booklets are earned by students who have a first quarter GPA of 3.0 or higher with no “D’s” or “F’s” and nothing less than Satisfactory in citizenship.

 

If a student feels that she or he should have received an Honor Cards Coupon Booklet and did not, please ask them to make an appointment with their counselor

 

Any students interested in trying out for boys’ or girls’ basketball need to stop by the main office to pick up an athletic packet.  Completed packets need to be turned in to the main office no later than Monday, November 24th.

Friday is the last day for spirit week. What’s your favorite decade? Would you rather wear poodle skirts or peace symbols? Do you think grung was cool or do you prefer the disco era? Or maybe you liked the 80′s best? Represent your favorite decade tomorrow for Retro Day. Just remember, dress code still applies.

 

Due to the library being used today, Sign Language Club will meet in room 606 instead.

For the next few weeks you can get up close and personal with a real jaguar, leopard and a few other things. If your really interested, you can do some additional research on the big cats. The library has some great books on these amazing animals.

 

Next Monday will be yet another Movie Monday. Come to the library at lunch to watch A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. Popcorn will be on sale for $1.00.

 

Students:  When using the bike rack, do not park your bike in the rack without a lock.  The school is not responsible for lost or stolen bikes.

 

Any students interested in trying out for boys’ or girls’ basketball need to stop by the main office to pick up an athletic packet.  Completed packets need to be turned in to the main office no later than Monday, November 24th.

 

The library will be closed this next week for second lunch. We are still having problems cleaning up food from the tables and floors. If this pattern continues, second lunch will not be allowed to eat in the library anymore. Let’s work together to keep the library clean.

We will be watching movie clips, listening to the soundtrack, holding a raffle for some great prizes, and doing some fun activities…All Twilighters are welcome! See you there!

Remember the Reading Rocks Grand Prize Drawing sponsored by our friends at KLUC? Well, guess what? We have a lucky Boxer around campus. Emily Ahlin won the grand prize drawing. Emily was honored at a special KLUC awards ceremony at the Las Vegas Library yesterday. Some of her winnings include a backpack filled with items such as an Ipod and giftcards to Target, Walmart and Barnes and Noble. Way to go, Emily! Thanks to those who went the extra mile by reading and filling out book summaries.

 

In the news: Did you know that Robby and Billy Cobbler and Mr. Phillips are famous. Well, sort of famous… Check out the Las Vegas Sun sports article on November 14th to see their picture and an article about youth wrestling.
